ResellerClub
Registering and renewing through ResellerClub: reseller ID and API key, IP whitelisting, automatic customers and contacts, the test server and troubleshooting.
The ResellerClub registrar module registers, transfers and renews domains through ResellerClub (the LogicBoxes platform) using its HTTP API. It creates the ResellerClub customer and contact for each client on the fly, and it reads and changes nameservers, contact details, the transfer lock, ID protection and the EPP code. It also syncs expiry dates. It is free and fits resellers who hold a ResellerClub reseller account. This module has no DNS record editing. The shared registrar behaviour is in Domain registrars; prices and the life of a domain in Domains.
Switching it on
- Open Setup → Domain Registrars, press Activate on ResellerClub, then Configure.
- Enter the Reseller ID, the API key and two default nameservers, and save.
- Press Test Connection. A good answer is Connected to ResellerClub.
- Press Use for all extensions, or choose it for one extension in Setup → Domain Pricing.
Settings
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Reseller ID | Your auth-userid: Settings > API in the ResellerClub control panel. |
| API key | Generated under Settings > API. Whitelist this server's IP address there too. Hidden field: leave empty to keep the saved key. |
| Default nameserver 1 and Default nameserver 2 | Used when a client gives no nameservers. ResellerClub needs at least two. |
| Test mode | Use test.httpapi.com, a demo reseller account. |
The Reseller ID and the API key are required; without them every call fails with ResellerClub is not set up yet: the reseller ID and API key are needed.
What ResellerClub needs from you
- A reseller account (live) and, for testing, a demo reseller account with its own ID and key on the test server.
- The API key and the Reseller ID from Settings > API.
- IP whitelisting: ResellerClub accepts API calls only from addresses you list in its API settings. Add your server's outgoing IP address.
- Credit in your reseller account to pay for registrations and renewals.
- HTTPS to the outside (the PHP
curlextension).
What it does
| Function | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Availability | Available is offered for sale; a name registered through ResellerClub or elsewhere is taken; any other answer means could not tell. |
| Customer and contact | On a client's first order the module finds the ResellerClub customer by the client's e-mail or signs one up (with a random password and English as the language), creates one contact from the client's details, and remembers both numbers. That contact is used as registrant, admin, technical and billing contact. |
| Register | Registers for the years ordered with KeepInvoice, auto-renew off, and ID protection bought when the client chose it. It needs two nameservers: the ones on the order or the defaults from the settings. The expiry date is read back from the order. |
| Transfer | Starts the transfer with the EPP code. |
| Renew | Renews for the years asked, from the current expiry date. |
| Sync | Reads the status (active or not) and the expiry date. A domain with no order is marked Transferred Away. |
| Nameservers | Read and changed at ResellerClub; at least two are needed. |
| Contacts | Read from and saved to the ResellerClub contacts. |
| Registrar lock | Switched through ResellerClub's theft protection. |
| EPP code | Read from the order (domsecret). |
| ID protection | Switched through ResellerClub's privacy protection. |
| DNS records | Not available. |
Typical workflow
- A client orders a domain and pays the invoice.
- AIOBilling makes (or finds) their ResellerClub customer and contact, then registers the domain. It becomes Active with the real expiry date.
- The cron syncs dates daily and the renewal invoice is made ahead of the expiry. When it is paid the module renews at ResellerClub.
- Failures e-mail the administrators and appear in the Module Log.
Testing
- Get a demo reseller account (ResellerClub's test environment) and enter its ID and key.
- Switch Test mode on and press Test Connection; it should say Connected to ResellerClub (test).
- Order a test domain as a test client and pay the invoice. Check the demo panel for the order.
- Enter the live ID and key and switch Test mode off.
Troubleshooting
Use Utilities → Module Log, filter by module resellerclub, and press View.
